Making Moves

Tumi is a business mentor in Making Moves, a TV show that combines Drama with Reality and Magazine on SABC 1, whose purpose is to mentor young entrepreneurs.

Through her Foundation, Tumi takes time to give back by speaking and sponsoring books in schools in the townships, churches and orphanages. She is involved with exceptional people with various community development projects:

  • Provides Mentorship to Graca Machel Women Postgraduate  Scholarship Program.
  • Affliated to RAM Inc, an International NGO whose purpose is to transform lives of over 50 000 people through medical clinics, business/leadership seminars and other humanitarian projects in the squatter camps, schools and communities to meet practical needs.
  • Tumi is an Ambassador of SA Career Forum, whose purpose is to explore ways to improve career guidance through active information sharing to learners at schools.
  • Tumi has designed a program to support schools in the delivery of quality educational experiences and encourage a culture of reading amongst other things. The program provides a platform for principals, teachers, student bodies and parents to interact with one another, explore possible solutions for the current challenges faced by schools in the townships; promote better work habits for both learners and educators.



The goal of this program is:

  • To provide quality professional development workshops to principals and their teachers.
  • Assist the above schools improve their overall student performance and results from grade 10 -12, by the end of 2010. 
  • Motivate and inspire both teachers and students to be accountable and committed in achieving best results.
  • Address other challenges that impede the delivery of quality education, such as teen pregnancies, HIV/AIDS and Child headed families.
  • Delivered Keynote address for Masters Students (School of Social Sciences Postgraduate Forum) at Wits University.
  • Involved with FNB Commercial Student Life Skills & Mentorship program.
  • Find Yo Faya – a motivational campaign that assists young South Africans to find their strength, purpose and passion.
  • YAM – Young Adult Ministry  (My Father’s House Christian Fellowship Church)
  • Shurnell & Friends – a network of people committed to making a difference in other people’s lives.
